Are you still collecting comments on this blog? I just stumbled on to this. Neil is still living happily over Red Hook only now he looks out on-- not the Alexander Hamilton-- but the Setting Sun. Red Hook was our front yard for so many years, and still is. In the early 60's Neil used to go into Johnny Harms Lagoon Marina and joke around with Tommy Gifford, back in the original building when there were two docks at Red Hook: Harm's and the public dock. That was when there were two, maybe three boats at anchor--Arawak and True Love. Wow, don't get me started! As his daughter, I grew up in Red Hook along with Guy and Fawn Dohm. At the time, for a kid, Red Hook felt like the end of the Earth....well it sort of was, unless you went swimming...the stories I could tell about Red Hook and life on that public dock...but my stories can't compare to Neil's. I'll get him on here and maybe he will comment too.
Thanks! Brett

I heard it from good authority that Neil is/was "canal barging" in France. 'Maybe headed back to the islands soon.

I moved from the town bulkhead to Red Hook at Dick Avery's suggestion, as he felt it was a good daycharter departure point, aboard the recently refloated island built cutter ,Arawak. On arrival, I met day chaterers Ron and Joan Lewellyn on Sushka, and the cutter Quandy. Many others have come and gone over the last 45 years.

I lived on St Thomas in the 80's and knew Neil Lewis and his daughter Brett. Does anyone know them? I would love to reconnect with them

@Anonymous : I see where Brett previously posted here --- maybe she'll pick up on your recent comments.

Plan B might be to send a letter addressed to Neil at 6501 Red Hook Plaza Ste 201, St Thomas VI 00802. A lot of Eastenders pass thru that mail center (Red Hook Mail and East End Secretarial founded by Carol King and currently run by Barbara).

I crewed for Neil back in the early '80s and would give anything if anyone could post images of the old Alexander Hamilton or how I could just get a copy would be fabulous. Thinking of those days makes me feel soo old and they were the best days of my youth. Thank you, Suzanne Willener

Thank you for posting information for Neil. I crewed on the A. Hamilton early '80s and long for a picture of it. Never did I think of photographing it; always thought it would be there to return to.
Thank you,

My husband and I used to vacation on Thanksgiving and have spent many a feast day in wonderful ports of call. One of the most charming we remember was on a sailboat, named the Alexander Hamilton in the Virgin Islands. We ate dinner on deck and under the direction of the captain, the dinner guests tossed the shrimp tails over our shoulders into the ocean. Before they hit the water fish jumped up in a ballet like move and caught them in mid air. The rest of the day was spent drinking rum and listening to James Taylor. Life was good. Thanks for the memory, Neil.
