Larry's Pour Man's Bar was pre-Bottoms Up at the East End Boat Yard, which has also gone thru several name changes. On one ownership change, Larry (Sorrenson) moved from Independent Boatyard to Red Hook and opened The Warehouse - a "Pour Man's Bar". Around the same time, he also opened Larry's Landing in Wharfside Village in St. John. Larry passed away from cancer some time back.

I know this is an older site, but I was just reminiscing about the "good ol' days and Pour Mans. Thinking back to Hat Man with the shrooms and that pitiful dog of his. Also the excitement of the danger any of us "mudha skunks" went through like "Shawn of Bovoni". Does anyone know what happened to USVI Dive shop? I still can't look at a Suzuki Samurai without thinking of those days.

Andrea, I'd like to think of this as a mature site with good'ole memories. If you look around you'll see people checking in and reminiscing as they discover the site looking for old friends. Thanks for stopping by!

I think Hat Man's name is Jeff. Consummate weaver of hats, bird mobiles, bowls, you-name-it from green palm fronds.

Not to detract from his artistry, rumor was that he was a trust fund baby and could walk into any bank and draw on his funds.

I gave him a ride once on his way to his "shroom collection" activities for the day. He offered me a few from his little pouch ... narliest, ugliest things I ever saw, and the thought they were harvested off cow paddies/pies/chips, made me gag. I passed.

'Had an original Suzuki jeep pre-Samurai that I bought from Creque Motors out at the airport. Almost lost the front seats to Rastas harvesting living room furniture in the Red Hook Horsefeathers parking lot.

There were so many that came and went. We will all miss the ones that left, but never did.
I have so many Photos and memories. No one has mentioned Tammy's "For the Birds". I would love to hear from anyone that wants to share.

Remember the beach boys at Sapphire Beach? Bobby, Rooster, Dave, Turtle, Darin. We worked that beach hard. Got jobs as roofers after Hugo. I remember going to The Pub at sapphire village every night after work. Woody bartended and Bink owned the place. For the Birds would be packed on Sunday nights. Ladies drank free all night. I too remember Jeff. Called him Mr. Green Jeans. I heard Pete from the Frigate passed away. Super bummed to hear that. Anybody else with memories of the sapphire crew?
